Edinburgh Castle Tour

Not every city has the privilege of having a majestic fortress at the top of an extinct volcano. Edinburgh Castle is "the attraction" in Edinburgh, where you can get a bit of everything. Visit the castle to discover the Scottish Crown Jewels, the prisons, the wars that have shaped the country, and much more!

Description

In the guided walk around Edinburgh Castle, you will start the tour at the High Street and go up to the Royal Mile, where you will find the so-called Castle Rock. Our guide will give you the necessary context to understand the importance of the location of Edinburgh Castle and how its access has changed over time.

From the first human settlements in Edinburgh to nowadays, experience the history behind the castle. Horrifying tales of kings and queens that have inspired Game of Thrones, stories of the Scottish Independence wars, the significance of the Jacobite rebellion... Edinburgh Castle even played a role in World War One and World War Two!

An important thing to know is that Edinburgh Castle is much more than just a castle. It's more like a citadel, a small village behind the castle walls. It currently features a number of museums and other attractions. The guide will walk around the village and tell you the history and significance of these places. He will give you tips and recommendations so you can enter the museums and attractions after the tour finishes.

Important: since Edinburgh Castle still is an active military base, no big bags or dangerous items are allowed inside!

Note: As mentioned, Edinburgh Castle is at the top of an extinct volcano, so the tour is uphill!

Is a funny way to know a bit of Edinburg. The tour is during night and this gives you a better idea of Edinburg legends.
